Main Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must complete all required training within 30 days of employment, and at least annually thereafter
  • Must follow procedures, including SNAP/WIC and ABC regulations.
  • Must be clocked in and ready to work 5 minutes before your shift. If you are running late or cannot make it to work, you must CALL one of the owners.
  • Put cell phone in basket, receive your till and confirm includes correct amount at beginning of shift, and that you have enough change.
  • Login to your cash register with your own ID code only.
  • Greet all customers with a smile and good attitude upon entering store.
  • Maintain checkout area clean and orderly. Absolutely no eating around register area.
  • Ask customers if they found everything they were looking for. Scan their items, check bottom of EVERY cart for missed items before completing the order. Handle the payment transactions per standard procedures.
  • Avoid personal conversations with other cashiers when customers are present.
  • Make every effort to maintain accurate cash control.
  • Retrieve shopping carts from the parking lots during downtime, and/or when asked. Organize any baskets left out of stand.
  • Be courteous and helpful to other employees. Tropicana is a team.
  • Report any cashier malfunction to front manager.
  • Adhere to all company guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Perform all other duties assigned.
  • If there are no customers in line, and there is more than one cashier, may help out on the floor as needed.
  • At closing time, receive drawer summary from customer service and count out your drawer. Enter the amount you have in cash, enter debit/credit/ebt/wic. Report any shortages or overages. Shortages of $2.00 or more, you are responsible for paying it, fill out pink cash short form and attach to closing report.
  • Should not take more than 10 minutes to close out their register and count the money at the end of the shift.
  • Return unwanted items to correct shelves.

Print end of day reports and complete closing at end of shift, report any shortages or other problems. Shortages of $2.00 or more need to be repaid by you.  Answer phones promptly and politely. Take advantage of meat sales from vendors, but order only what is needed to avoid losses.
Verify if there are any special orders.
Take orders from customers, be accurate when packing up meat bundles and attach checklist to box.
Make sure the meat department is clean according to sanitation regulations.
Be aware of expiration dates of all product.
Make sure machines are properly assembled and working.
While defrosting meat, water must be running.
Greet all customers with a smile and good attitude, and help them in any way you can.
Coolers must be washed at least once a month.
Check temperatures, and inform supervisor if there are any problems.

  • Ability to work up to 4 hour periods without a bathroom break, or lunch break.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 4 hours at a time without a break.
  • Knowledge of many different types of produce.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Upon arrival inspect all produce and get rid of any produce that appears spoiled.
Make sure produce area is clean and there is nothing on the floor.
Make sure to order sufficient quantities to keep area well stocked, but not too much that it will spoil.
Greet all customers with a smile and good attitude, and help them in any way you can.
Before you leave for the day, make sure produce department is well stocked and clean.
Maintain a great variety of fresh produce.
Make sure EVERY ITEM has a tag with correct price
Coolers must be washed at least once a month.
